*EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH REY D EL SUPERNOVA*
OK-MUSIC TV: NICE TO HAVE YOU WITH US FOR THE INTERVIEW. FIRST OFF, WHY THE NAME "REY D"? WHAT MADE GRASP YOU TO THAT NAME?
REY D: I want to first say thank you LRB (you always been a huge supporter of my movement) for this interview opportunity through your website. It's good to know someone is actually doing this for artist like me and other upcoming talents.
So about my name, I'm not sure what year it was when I changed from MC Raphy Alofoque to Rey D Alofoque then Rey D Nova lol. But I had a few combinations around "Rey D" which means King Dominican in English. I decided to go for Rey D cause it's short like "Jay Z'. I feel like I can use my name even in a normal conversation with anybody in the street rather than my real name. Rey for King or my last name Reyes and D for Dominican or just an extra letter to give it that Jay Z look.
OK-MUSIC TV: BESIDES BEING A MUSIC ARTIST, IS THERE OTHER THINGS THAT YOU DO?
REY D: Yes, I like to get involve in club promotions, acting, and modeling when I get the chance. Other things like buying property and renting out studios is how I make money on the side to feed my musical needs.
Traveling is a another huge part of my life because learning from other places is how I come up with ideas to make more music that relates to everyone.
OK-MUSIC TV: HOW WOULD YOU SUM UP YOUR STYLE IN MUSIC AND IN EVERYTHING THAT YOU DO? & WHAT SEPERATES YOU FROM OTHER MUSIC ARTISTS LIKE YOURSELF?
REY D: When I listen to other artist I try not to sound like them but it's hard not to because thats how you learn to adapt to new styles. My music is a collective of ideas that come from where I'm from and where i live. I was born in the Dominican Republic and now living in Boston Massachusetts. Here I have seen and heard so much talent that it has open me up to newer ventures in my music and in my life.
My music is very different from other artist and one good example of that is through my old band Alofoque which you can Youtube and my channel as well Rey D Supernova. I put together music to dance and to think. Reggaeton, Hip hop, R&B, and some pop music too.
OK-MUSIC TV: HAVE YOU LANDED COLLABORATIONS ON TRACKS WITH MAJOR MUSIC ARTISTS OR DID WORK WITH THEM BEFORE?
REY D: Not yet but I have taken music with artist permission and made remixes with Sensato Del Patio, Daddy Yankee, Wisin & Yandel, Arcangel, Judiny and some others.
OK-MUSIC TV: TELL US A LIL BIT ABOUT WHAT HAPPEN WITH THE GROUP "ALOFOQUE" YOU WERE IN OVER THE YEARS.
REY D: I honestly don't want to say much but the group was a success from the beggining of it's debut. I'm not happy that we broke up since we were a great team and everything was happening so fast for us. I believe that the break up happen for a good reason though and everyone in the group is doing well today as far as I know. The group was together for about 6 years until I decided to continue my Universirty degree which i did and graduated with a 4 year bachelors college degree. The other members just started other movements and career paths.
OK-MUSIC TV: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OTHER UPCOMING TALENTS OUT THERE?
REY D: Be consistent, stay current, always remember those who helped you in the beggining of your career, and love what you do in life.
OK-MUSIC TV: ARE YOU LOOKING TO GET SIGNED TO A MAJOR LABEL OR WOULD YOU RATHER BE INDEPENDENT ON YOUR OWN LABEL? WHY OR WHY NOT?
REY D: At the momment I rather stay independent and continue releasing new mixtapes and Tengo Hambre collab mixtapes.
OK-MUSIC TV: THIS WILL CONCLUDE OUR INTERVIEW WITH YOU. OK-MUSIC TV WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU AGAIN FOR JOINING US IN THIS BRIEF INTERVIEW. WHERE CAN EVERYBODY CONNECT WITH YOU AT? AND IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO CONLCUDE IN THIS INTERVIEW.
REY D: Well I want to thank you again for having this interview with me and yes all of you can follow me on Twitter, Youtube, Instagram and Viddy for my local updates and other music related stuff.
